Chair: Dorletta Payton

With a Bachelor's degree from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago, Dorletta has always been enthusiastic about education. She is the vice chairman of BAAWG, a grass roots organization created to combat the academic achievement gap, and has served as the co-chair of DuPage County NAACP's ACT-SO chapter since 2008. Our local ACT-SO program continues to receive national recognition for student achievement. Professionally, Dorletta works at the Quad County Urban League in Aurora as the Director of Education and Youth Services. She is the wife of Mark Payton, with whom she has two children, Angelica and Justin. Contact Dorletta Payton at

Core Responsibilities
1. Provide complete direction, support, and leadership for ACT-SO
2. Recruit all support needed
3. Seek and provide mentors in the areas of Humanities, Performing Arts, Science, Visual Arts, or Entrepreneurship
4. Secure all venues
5. Plan and execute on all activities
6. Execute full day ACT-SO competition and Awards Event ⁄ Fundraiser
7. Collaborate with Youth council & Youth Works
8. Encourage the parents to become members of NAACP ⁄ minimally set them up to receive newsletter information
9. Engage past ACT-SO winners ⁄ participants who are in college or who have graduated
10. Complete monthly report
